Our Rick’s Place’s mission is to offer a place for youth and their parents/guardians to be supported as they manage one of life’s most difficult experiences.
We recognize these four important principles of grief:
- Grieving is a natural response to change, loss and the death of a close family member or friend.
- Grief is individual and has its own time and duration.
- Within everyone, child or adult, is the natural ability to heal oneself.
- Caring and acceptance assist in the integration process.
Rick’s Place is not a therapy group – it is a peer support program for children and their families. No one at Rick’s Place receives a diagnosis, prescription, or treatment plan. We can, however, offer referral information for mental health services in the community.
