Our Rick’s Place’s mission is to offer a place for youth and their parents/guardians to be supported as they manage one of life’s most difficult experiences.
We recognize these four important principles of grief:

  1. Grieving is a natural response to change, loss and the death of a close family member or friend.
  2. Grief is individual and has its own time and duration.
  3. Within everyone, child or adult, is the natural ability to heal oneself.
  4. Caring and acceptance assist in the integration process.

Rick’s Place is not a therapy group – it is a peer support program for children and their families. No one at Rick’s Place receives a diagnosis, prescription, or treatment plan. We can, however, offer referral information for mental health services in the community.
