Rick's Place, Inc. serves families with children age 5-18 in the Greater Springfield area and northern Connecticut. Children attend the program with an adult, who will meet with other parents, guardians and caregivers while children become part of small groups targeted by age. The groups meet bi-weekly for nine months, allowing strong bonds to form between program participants.

Since Rick's Place, Inc. is a group support program, the activities within the program allow time for fellowship and fun, as well as time for remembering the loved one who has died and sharing his or her story with the group. All of the activities are created to help the children in the group think and talk about their feelings and to help their parents and caregivers understand how to support the children in their grief, often while still grieving themselves.

Above all, Rick's Place, Inc. is a safe, compassionate environment for all children affected by the death of a close family member. There is no charge to join. The program was founded by The Rick Thorpe Memorial Fund.
